Snow sees cutting budget gap despite hurricane
snip>
Snow, Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, Labor Secretary Elaine Chao and Social Security Commissioner Jo Anne Barnhart traveled to Houston, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Mobile, Alabama, to view the area ravaged by the hurricane and talk to people affected by it.

The visit came amid criticism of the administration's handling of the storm and its aftermath and as the Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff called Federal Emergency Management Agency Director Michael Brown, whose leadership has been questioned, back to Washington.

But the traveling Cabinet officials said the region is poised to rebound from the destruction of the storm because President George W. Bush has strengthened the U.S. economy.

"There is unparalleled prosperity in this country because the president's agenda has been working," Gutierrez said before a meeting with business leaders in Mobile.

"So that should give us a great deal of comfort that the presidents' agenda will continue to drive the economy in the future," he said.

5. These political appointees can go back to judging horses or whatever
else they were doing before Bush rewarded them for their campaign contributions by giving them government jobs.

They simply say these things to keep the fools happy.
