FEMA director says media made him a scapegoat

EXPERIENCE QUESTIONED: OFFICIAL DENIES CHARGES; HE SAYS ALL HE WANTED WAS `TO HELP THESE VICTIMS'

By Ron Fournier

Associated Press

WASHINGTON - A beleaguered Michael Brown said Friday that he didn't know why he was removed from his on-site command of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, but he did know the first thing he would do upon returning to Washington.

``I'm going to go home and walk my dog and hug my wife, and maybe get a good Mexican meal and a stiff margarita and a full night's sleep,'' Brown told the Associated Press. ``And then I'm going to go right back to FEMA and continue to do all I can to help these victims.''

While waiting for his military flight back to Washington, the FEMA chief accused journalists of rushing to judgment and passing rumors off as fact.

``I'm anxious to get back to D.C. to correct all the inaccuracies and lies,'' he said.

Adults? I think not.

11. Meaning: Brown embarrassed Bush and he would be removed
This is the Bush manner of firing anyone, keep them out of the spotlight, let the public continue to pay the salary, avoid scandal at all costs. If Brown understood the Bush employment policy of never embarrss Bush, he would have known he was toast as soon as Bush told everyone "Brownie you're doin' a heck of a job". Up is down, down is up.

27. Absolutely correct
And I'd happily make a wager that the name 'Brown' will never ever be uttered by Bush* again (oh, he may be forced to mention Brown, but he'll refer him by title only). Persona non grata. Heck, even his underlings don't dare mention that name in his presence for fear of losing favor in Commander Coo-Coo Banana's Cabal.

32. No, not fired
Although if you or I screwed up in such a magnificent manner, our asses would be on the street. But boosh* absolutely LUUUUUUUUUUUUVS people who give generously to The Party. So he's safe -- for the time being (although normally a boosh* "endorsement" is the Kiss of Death).

No, Brownie's just upset that the MSM actually told the truth (for a change) about a boosh* appointee's incompetence at their current position.

Cry me a river, dude. At least you've still got a job. :nopity:

4. He's absolutely correct...
It was that damned lib'rul media that kept him from getting necessary aid to NO. We all know that. Also, they were also probably resonsible for editing his resume. Go suck an egg shithead! (can't put a sarcasm smiley in the subject line or I would have.)

Always remember who is the BOSS and who always makes the decisions and creates the great final actions, even if it takes me 2-3 days or 2-3weeks."
"You can still have a job with big salary as long as you do nothing and say nothing till everything clears up!"

12. Mr. Brown,...
you're incompetent and unqualified. That's why you were removed - finally! - from overseeing the "relief" efforts, such as they were under your "leadership".

Go have that Mexican meal and margarita. There are tens of thousands who don't have that luxury now. Callous asshole.

17. Brownie, you stupid FUCK,
Your man bu$h was the one who made you the Scapegoat, and you helped him do it, you clueless fool. Let me break it down for you:

It's called the Goat Theory of Management. Its essence is this: the first thing you do is hire somebody you can blame it on when it fucks up.

That's you, Brownie. Heck of a job!

Remember New Orleans.

23. Actually, I am afraid that
Brown WILL be made the scapegoat and * will skate. You can't blame Brown for being incompetent as much as you can blame * for putting an incompetent and unqualified person there to do the job. Like old Harry used to say, "The buck stops here." Seems like * always wants someone else to "stop the buck."

31. I Almost Feel Sorry For Him
Is it HIS fault he was put in a position for which he has no qualifications? Is it HIS fault that while he was in that position this country got hit by (one of) the worst natural disaster(s) in its history?

Of course, that is assuming he is merely incompetent and that he is not a part of anything more sinister.

34. gutting civil service and unions when DHS was created is to blame too?
I would like some review of the way they gutted civil service rules and union protections when they rolled existing departments like FEMA into the new DHS. Rememeber how they were saying unions and civil service would 'hinder' the smooth operation of them all as part of Homeland Sec urity. I thought it was creepy the way they did that and approached it, Of course the name Homeland is creepy OrwellianReich sounding, in its' own right. Now, I am wondering if part of the hinderance they felt by those rules and regulations was that they would be unable to use it as a parking space for political patronage crony appointments like Brown's?

The way they reworked the civil service rules and unions might be partially to blame for blivets like this getting appointed and SCREWING up royally. And, there were some Democrats screaming about those changes when DHS was created too.

Those Dems should be screaming 'told ya so', now. I think.
