British soldier killed, three hurt in Iraq attack
LONDON (AFP) - A British serviceman was killed and three injured in an late-morning bomb attack in Iraq's southern Basra province, the Ministry of Defence said without giving further details.

The attack came six days after two British soldiers in an armoured four-wheel-drive vehicle were killed in a roadside bombing near Al-Zubair, southwest of Basra city.

The overall number of British personnel in Iraq who have died as a result of combat, accident or natural causes now stands at 95, including those killed in Sunday's attack, according to a defence ministry tally.

In late July, two British security contractors were also killed when a consular convoy was attacked by a roadside bomb on the outskirts of Basra, headquarters of the British military presence in oil-rich southern Iraq.
