Harris keeps them waiting, but Republicans don't mind
By Brian E. Crowley

Palm Beach Post Political Editor
Tuesday, September 13, 2005

JUPITER — Katherine Harris got a chance to test just how popular she is with Palm Beach County Republicans Monday when she arrived an hour late for a noon luncheon.

It is the nature of campaigns that candidates often run well behind schedule. It also is the nature of people left waiting to grow impatient and leave, especially on a workday.

But for the Sarasota-area congresswoman who wants to be Florida's next U.S. senator, only two of more than 100 members and guests of the Jupiter-Tequesta Republican Club left the Abacoa Country Club. And when Harris was done speaking, many waited in a long line to chat with her and pose for pictures.

"She is fabulous," said Sid Dinerstein, chairman of the Palm Beach County Republican Party. "She's a do-something congresswoman running against a do-nothing senator."

5. Please don't blame this on her make-up --
I get mine on in ten minutes or less. Ask my husband!

Maybe she went for botox injections or quick plastic surgery!

In peace,

Radio Lady

7. Please tell me, what the hell does this mean?
She said former FEMA Director Michael Brown did the right thing by stepping down Monday, but she is not ready to remove FEMA from the Department of Homeland Security. U.S. Rep. Mark Foley, R-Jupiter, introduced legislation last week to do just that.

"It might be the right thing to do, but I just want to make sure it's not just eyewash" she said.

14. Speaking of twins, as you and ShockediSay were, here's some twin news.
Just found it in a google search for "Bush twins:"

"Some chick dressed up like the Bush twins. She was Jenna and half a dummy coming out of her side was Barbara. The back of her shirt said, "What would Jenna drink?""

15. Here's a truly telling passage
Especially when you consider it's a GOP luncheon:

"It also is the nature of people left waiting to grow impatient and leave, especially on a workday."

But they didn't. See, they could just sit on their asses because they could afford to blow off the entire day.

Imagine if you wanted to go to a luncheon for a Dem candidate. You'd have to punch out at 12:00, get to the luncheon, and stay the maximum you can while still being able to get back to work and punch in at 12:59pm (if you punch in at 1:00pm, you're likely to get in trouble - that counts as 61 minutes!). And that's if (AND ONLY IF) you get an hour for lunch - if you're one of the lucky ones. More likely, your job gets harder as people are taking their lunch hours to do business at your establishment.
