WASHINGTON (AP) -- Pipe fitter Robert Carroll has sent out more than 150 resumes and listed himself on six different employment Web sites since he lost his job last January. So far, he's had no luck.<snip>
Rep. Sander Levin, D-Mich., said Tuesday that Carroll is among those who would be helped by a bill Democrats are pushing. It would give 1.4 million people who have exhausted their unemployment benefits another 13 weeks of aid. Seven extra weeks would be available for those in high unemployment states.
Democrats hope to pressure Republicans to schedule a vote on their bill in the next few weeks, Levin said.<snip>
In addition to the 13 to 20 weeks for workers who have exhausted their benefits, the Democratic bill would extend regular benefits by 26 weeks, with an additional seven weeks in 18 high unemployment states.
