Hummers prepare to roll into Elko
Edited on Wed Sep-14-05 04:45 AM by NVMojo
(mods, give me some leeway here on the date. our paper comes out at night, posts late on their website and I couldn't link it until just now cuz I had to be awake to do it, thanks for your kindness. This is not more than 12 hrs old. and pretinent to understanding the red states).

WHAT THE RICH DO WHEN PEOPLE ARE LOST FROM THEIR HOMES IN NOLA AND OTHER PLACES AND THERE IS SUPPOSEDLY A GAS SHORTAGE PROBLEM. THEY PLAY WITH THE RESOURCES!

ELKO - Often associated with such topics as low gas mileage and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Hummer sport utility vehicle is about to gain a more expansive presence in Elko.

Starting Sept. 27 and ending Oct. 1, between 150 and 200 Hummers will gather in at the Elko Convention Center for the first ever Elko Hummer Round-Up. The five-day event will encompass information on the new edition of the Hummer, the H3, as well as workshops on safety and organized trail rides.

According to Elko Convention Center Tourism and Convention Manager Thomas Lester, the Round-Up stemmed from the Summer Adventure FAM tour that was held in August.

Lester said Hummer racer Rod Hall visited Elko and wanted to have a round-up in association with the event's coordinator, Emily Miller. Hall, winner of the Baja 1000 and a Hummer outfitter, has already established a Hummer Round-Up in Reno, but Lester said that gathering only has about 60 Hummers in attendance.

What need does the world have for Hummers other than cutting the earth's life shorter than necessary?

5. Because...just as a Rolex isn't really for telling time,
...a Hummer isn't really about driving, it's about proclaiming to the world "I AM AN ASSHOLE"
