Bodies raise new questions on storm aid
NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - The discovery of at least 44 bodies in an abandoned hospital in New Orleans raised new questions about the response to Hurricane Katrina on Tuesday as
President George W. Bush took full responsibility for government failures in handling the disaster.

Rescuers found the corpses at the Memorial Medical Center on Monday, the same day Bush toured the city. They raised the official death toll from the August 29 storm to more than 500 and officials said some may have died while waiting for help that did not arrive for several days after the hurricane.

A spokesman for the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals said on Tuesday at least 44 bodies from the 317-bed hospital had been taken to a morgue for autopsies. The department said earlier 45 bodies had been discovered. Reporters who tried to enter the facility on Tuesday were blocked by National Guard soldiers.

At the White House, Bush for the first time took personal responsibility for the federal government's slow response to the emergency, which stranded tens of thousands of people in the flooded city.

2. We don't call it the BFEE - Bush Family Evil Empire for nothing.
I am beginning to thing bush is the antichrist and I hope Jesus will come soon. Just to make sure their is no journalistic truth, bush has hired Blackwater killers and is illegally allowing foreign troops to bear arms in our country. Write Congress, media for explanation:

Bush surrounds Louisiana with armed Mexican troops

Total Information Analysis | September 9 2005

As the White House unsuccessfully insists on seizing control of the Louisiana National Guard to institute full-blown martial law in New Orleans, it has brought in foreign troops moving on the Western and Eastern borders of the state. RELATED:

Armed Mexican Troops on US Soil

Washington Post/AP Thursday, September 8, 2005; 4:31 PM is peddling the government line that the soldiers are unarmed, but does note that the Mexican Navy has brought hardware to the Mississippi Gulf Coast:
LAREDO, Texas -- A Mexican army convoy of nearly 200 people crossed the border into the United States on Thursday to bring aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina, becoming the first Mexican military unit to operate on U.S. soil since 1846.

Mexico's first disaster aid mission to the United States was greeted at the border by dignitaries from both countries.
<...>

The Mexican government already was planning another 12-vehicle aid convoy for this week. It has sent a Mexican navy ship toward the Mississippi coast with rescue vehicles and helicopters.

But Alex Jones is reporting from several sources the troops in Texas are armed! From PrisonPlanet.com :

3. Welcome to DU, GayCanuck!
I don't know the answer to your question as I have read that he enjoyed blowing up frogs as a kid. However, there probably was a time when the people who voted him into office didn't have blood on their hands, but they are now covered in it as well.

Peace.

6. Thank-you
Good point. If you are with bush, you indeed have blood on your hands.

8. yes and those with the AMERICAN flag out every day
are also guilty IMO. I see this every day still ... neighbor across the street is a big * supporter. Him and his family go to the local Baptist church every Sunday. Such *nice* people.

There hands have as much blood on them as * does in an indirect way IMO for they support them.

It really bothers me a lot that our flag is being used to represent * and his thugs and the unjust war in Iraq.

THIS IS NOT WHAT AMERICA IS ALL ABOUT!

5. what the hell is the with the National Guard keeping the press
out?

Can we please stop trying to hide how bad it was? It's not going to help anything or anybody - those people are dead. At the least their stories should be known. If it makes us look like uncaring heartless bastards more concerned with money than the least of us, well sometimes the truth hurts.

10. Looks like Reuters is down with the latest GOP meme about
Bush "taking full responsibility". Read his statement and tell me to what extent his tepid acceptance of responsibility is "full". It's just empty rhetoric shoved down his throat by Rove and Hughes. There will be no evidence of this responsibility going forward. If there were he would resign or at the very least fire Chertoff. - K

12. If this had been a biological weapon
of a deadly virus, we would not be here at our computers right now, we would all be dead. The response of the Health and Human Services under Homeland Security, was so pathetic and negligent, that most of this country would be dead, all of us. They were not even able to determine which hospitals still had patients, or needed help. How in the world would they ever be able to contain an epidemic? Mike Leavitt, Secretary of HHS, is another unqualified bushboob. He is not an physician, knows NOTHING about public health, but is a former governor of Utah.
