US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair agreed today "to see the job through" in Iraq despite a series of deadly suicide bombings in Baghdad earlier in the day.
The two leaders met for up to 30 minutes on the sidelines of the United Nations' 60th anniversary summit in New York where the main focus is UN reform and global poverty.
"Both expressed their determination to see the job through in Iraq and to help Iraqis in their transition to democracy and security," a spokesman for Mr Blair said.
Mr Bush and Mr Blair also discussed the Middle East peace process, while the President gave the Prime Minister - his closest ally in Europe - an update on Hurricane Katrina, the spokesman said.
Did they also talk about the civil war that has been unleashed?
