Senator hunts for `death tax` dead
WASHINGTON, DC, United States (UPI) -- A leading proponent of abolishing the federal estate tax reportedly looked into using Hurricane Katrina victims to promote the cause.

Time magazine reports U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., called his old law professor to discuss the prospect. The professor, Harold Apolinsky, is also a co-author of federal legislation to repeal the estate tax, Time said.

Sessions called Apolinsky Sept. 9 and left a voicemail indicating the legislation -- which ran into some opposition on Capitol Hill before Katrina struck -- could get a boost if someone who would be affected by the tax were to die during the hurricane.

'(Arizona Sen.) Jon Kyl and I were talking about the estate tax,' Sessions reportedly said on the tape. 'If we knew anybody that owned a business that lost life in the storm, that would be something we could push back with.'

6. The cons have lost their ability to surprise me
Disgust & repulsion are the primary emotions they evoke now. They are evil, soulless beings, embodying the basest aspects of humanity.

5. Jesus fucking Christ,
what a goddamn vampire, even for a repuke! "Oh, let's hope someone DIES so we can promote our economy-sucking agenda!" ARRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

And you know what also really frosts my cookies about this? What about that horrid bankruptcy bill and its affect on Katrina victims when it goes into affect on October 17? Why don't I hear these repukes talk about extending the deadline for the bill's implementation because of the horrible affect it's going to have on thousands of victims?

Could it be because most of those victims were poor and black, and not only does this clueless fucker not give a damn about them, but he also couldn't care less about ANY non-rich victim? Nahh, that couldn't be it, could it? I mean, they would NEVER think that way! :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

9. There was talk of exempting the Katrina victims..
and, if I remember correctly, it was Sessions who spoke out most loudly against doing so. This is a vile, disgusting man...and I use the word man reluctantly, as that is usually reserved for a human being.

13. Oh, really?
He did that, did he? Geez Louise, what a big, fucking surprise. I suppose if it were his country club buddies, he'd be jumping and hooting and hollering every day, all day, on the floor of the Senate for an extension. What a bottom-feeding, scum-sucking, pond scum eating, lowlife fuckstick reptile he is.

15. And his RICH constituents - those that have estates over 1.5 million
which is the limit at which those BELOW pay NO taxes - are those same leeches who own the CREDIT CARD COMPANIES that benifited from the new bankruptcy laws!

7. even if they did find someone with a small business
who had died in the storm, it is unlikely that the inheritance tax would have applied. i think if they did find someone, it would likely disprove their point.

Nothing like paying substandard wages to reconstruct Louisiana and Mississippi to put them back on their feet!

10. I doubt they'll find any. The American Farm Bureau couldn't find a
single farm that was lost because of the estate tax when asked to back up their claims for supporting the abolishment of the estate tax.

Besides, I doubt anyone worth a cool million didn't evacuate. They certainly would have had the means. Might have been a few that stayed behind.

11. Oh it gets worst, I recently heard one of the proponents call it...
...not the "Death Tax, but the "Vulture Tax!"

I expect if they really get to the point where it looks like it could go down to defeat, they might just roll that run that Turkey up the flag pole and see if it flies.

18. These people are such bastards. You won't find anyone hurt by the "death
tax" in the part of NO that was hit. It doesn't apply to any but the filthy rich. Those who NEVER have enough money. The money addicts.

Those people Sessions would be concerned with are likely not dead because they were able to get out in time.

Good criminy. There's no end to their filth.
