French soldier killed in roadside bomb in Afghanistan

KABUL, Sept. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- A French soldier of US-led coalition was killed and another wounded as their vehicle ran over a mine in southern Afghanistan, an official confirmed Sunday.

"The incident took place Saturday in Shiro Auba area of Spin Boldak district, Kandahar province, leaving one French soldier dead and another wounded," commander of Border Police Abdul Razaq told Xinhua.

Both the victims were serving Afghanistan under the US-led coalition troops.

Meantime, the US army here declined to make any comment on the subject while spokesman of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has denied losing any ISAF soldier in south Afghanistan.
