(UK) Church wants to apologize for Iraq war

Church wants to apologize for Iraq war:-

Bishops of the Church of England are calling for Christian leaders in Britain to publicly apologize for the war in Iraq and its aftermath.

The bishops say the British government is not likely to show remorse, so the churches should. They want to organize a major gathering with senior figures from the Muslim community to make a public act of repentance, the London Times Online reported.

The proposal for a public apology comes in a new report, in which the bishops plead for more understanding of what motivates terrorists.

The report criticizes Western democracies as deeply flawed and accuses the United States of dangerous expansionism.

3. yes and no
Officially, the Chruch falls under the jurisdiction of the state and the monarch. However, it operates independently of the government, with very minimal oversight.
