23% of Voters in Poll say Nader Should Run in 2004

Nearly one in four voters want Ralph Nader to run for president in 2004, according to a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll released Tuesday. The poll found that 23% of those surveyed said Nader should run in 2004; 66% said he shouldn't.

Poll numbers may not translate into votes, but a surprised Nader said the numbers show that "people are looking for alternatives to the Democratic and Republican duopoly."

My comment: Nader's ego blinds him to reality. He got 3% of the vote in 2000. He doesn't suddenly have 23% support. The vast majority of this 23% consists of Republicans who know he cost Gore the election. Yes, Ralph, the GOP would love for you to run. You idiot.

Thing is, with Ralph Nader heading the ticket, Greens made significant gains in every state. His name recognition and egotistical attitude (yeah, like most successful politicians aren't egotistical and arrogant?) gave a significant boost to Green registration and voter involvment.

In 1996, the Green party was struggling to get a place on a third of the state ballots. Now, for better or for worse, Greens are on ballots in 50 states and have passed the Libertarians as the fastest growing party, nationally. This is in no small part due to Nader's efforts.

Almost every Green I know is now, after three years of Bush, fully aware of the fact that there were significant differences between Bush and Gore. A lot of them really disliked Gore a lot, and would still have a hard time voting for him, but I don't think that after three years of John Ashcroft, the Patriot Act, the doctrine of pre-emption, etc., that any of them would buy the "no difference" canard this time around.

I would like to see how many of those who said yes were Democrats, how many were Greens, and how many were Republicans.

I would guess that you are right, that the majority of those who said yes are Republicans who want him to take votes from the Democrat.

And I thought he only got 2% in 2000. I know he got his highest margin in Alaska, with 10%, and then (as every Dean supporter hear probably knows, unfortunately!) in Vermont with 7%. Maybe they just polled people in those 2 states!

Surely he cant be the reason Gore lost. Less than 50% of voters nation wide bothered voting at all; and if Gore had of won his own state - isn't that usually a foregone conclusion during any presidential election that the candidate will win his (can't wait for a her) state and if he had of let Clinton campaign for him Gore would have won Arkansas as well; which would have put an end to all the following fun and games in Florida and at the Supreme Court.

Rather than bagging the Greens shouldn't you be trying to persuade the non-voting 50% of the population to vote your way.

that Tom Squitieri wrote. He is a Republican shill of the first order not to mention a media whore who hasn't been getting much publicity lately so he had to come up with something to get attention for himself. I couldn't agree more emphatically with VaLabor's comments. Nader's runaway ego has cost the world dearly. There are some 9,000 dead Iraqi civilians who would not have been slaughtered if Nader hadn't split the progressive voters. And that's just one example of the blood that's on the hands of Nader and every voter he has duped.

Naderites love to tell people "Vote your conscience." But they HAVE NO CONSCIENCE.
