6. It should be obvious by now
even to anyone as dim as Chimp, that going into Iraq was a huge mistake, and every day we stay only compounds the error. Every death, every injury, is one that did not have to happen. Katrina's aftermath proved without a shadow of doubt that this administration is not only corrupt and arrogant, but inept and stupid.

How many troops facing needless death in Iraq are worried about how their families here are coping with life? How many are from areas devastated by Katrina, or in states which are now threatened by other hurricanes?

While Chimp and his cronies enrich themselves more and more, ordinary citizens are called upon to give more and more...and for some, the price is their life. We are a nation in disgrace. We start illegal wars, destroy the infrastructure of other countries, let our own citizens suffer in squalor and increasing poverty, and permit ourselves to be ruled by a man not legally elected.

Bring the troops home now.

7. Roadside bombs kill 4 US troops in Iraq
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Four U.S. soldiers have been killed by roadside bombs in Iraq, the U.S. military said on Tuesday, bringing the number of American soldiers killed since the March 2003 invasion of Iraq to 1,906.

"Four Soldiers assigned to the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), were killed in action by improvised explosive devices during two separate incidents while conducting combat operations September 19 in Ramadi, Iraq," the statement said.

Improvised roadside bombs are the most common killers of U.S. troops in Iraq.

13. U.S. Military Deaths Top 1,900 in Iraq
By STEVEN R. HURST

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The war in Iraq passed a sobering milepost Tuesday when U.S. officials reported 10 more Americans were killed _ six of them members of the armed forces, raising to more than 1,900 the number of U.S. service members who have died in the country since the invasion.

A Diplomatic Security agent attached to the U.S. State Department and three private American security guards were killed when their convoy was hit by a suicide car bomber Monday in the northern city of Mosul, the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad said. The four were attached to the U.S. Embassy's regional office in Mosul.

The announcements came as British and Iraqi officials issued stinging charges and countercharges about the storming of a Basra jail to free two British soldiers who had been arrested by Basra police. During the raid, British forces learned that Shiite Muslim militiamen and police had just moved the two men to a nearby house. The British then stormed that house and rescued the men. <snip>

Britain's Foreign Office later released a statement it said was from al-Jaafari's office, insisting there is no crisis in relations between the two countries. <snip>

16. For every troop killed, 7 are injured
Our medical technology has far increased since Vietnam. Troops have a higher survival rate because of this increase. So we may have less dead and more severely maimed but surviving troops. For what cause, either war?
