Honduras Orders Chileans Training to Become Security Guards in Iraq to Leave Country

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AP) - Honduras' foreign secretary on Tuesday ordered 211 Chileans who came to the Honduran capital to be trained by a U.S. company for service as security guards in Iraq to leave the country in the next three days.
The Chileans arrived on Sept. 8 for small-arms and self-defense training at Your Solutions, which has an instruction facility in Lepaterique, 20 miles (30 kilometers) north of Tegucigalpa, the capital.

But the constitution prohibits security and military training for foreigners on Honduran soil and Foreign Secretary Daniel Ramos said authorities had decided to revoke the 30-day tourist visas the Chileans used to enter the country.

"The foreigners better leave the country, Friday at the latest," he said at a news conference. "If not, we will be forced to take more serious measures."

(Sep 21, 2005) Chilean mercenaries have been tied to Blackwater USA. As a follow-up to the article about Chilean mercenaries discovered to be training in Honduras prior to being shipped out to Iraq, it has been revealed that North Carolina-based Blackwater USA was the first to send Chilean mercenaries to Iraq.

Moreover, the Chileans were trained at Blackwater's North Carolina headquarters facility.

Blackwater's program to recruit Chilean ex-military and security personnel began in October 2004.

The other unnamed company mentioned in recent Chilean press reports as a partner for Your Solutions, Inc., headquartered in Chicago with a subsidiary in Honduras, is Blackwater USA.
