Police forces in Metro Manila were placed yesterday on full alert status as part of the security measures for planned anti-government massive protest actions in today's commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of the declaration of martial law.
Police Director Vidal Querol, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the highest police alert status took effect at noon yesterday or shortly after he met with the five police district directors of Metro Manila.
Querol bared that at least 2,000 anti-riot policemen will be deployed to maintain peace and order in several protest action sites in Metro Manila.
At least 20,000 rallyists, mostly from the anti-Arroyo group Bukluran Para sa Katotohanan, are expected to join the protest actions. <snip>
