NORM: Airmen witness Geraldo 'rescue'
Nellis airmen and a KVBC-TV, Channel 3 cameraman were eyewitnesses in New Orleans to Geraldo Rivera's version of a "rescue."

Photojournalist Ken Johnson, head of KVBC's special projects unit, was riding with Nellis' "Jolly Green Giants" squadron on Sept. 5 when they landed in a parking lot outside the Holy Angels Resident Hall for Retired Nuns.

As Nellis pararescue personnel loaded the patients, Johnson noticed Rivera, Fox News network's controversial reporter, following the last evacuee to the helicopter.

"He looked over at his cameraman and he decided to participate in the last 15 or so feet," Johnson said. When Rivera reached the wheelchair, "He didn't move anybody out of the way, but he tapped a (Nellis airman) like he was saying, `I got this side.'

1. I am so disgusted with this guy, when he started out he was
my hero. Now he makes phony 'rescue' videos for fox. Remember the one where he made the lady who was being rescued walk across the parking lot a couple of times to make sure it 'looked' right on film. Phony.

2. Kurt Vonnegut hates him too. Seems he was married to Von's daughter
for a spell and it was very unpleasant.

3. BUT he was on the ground in NOLA
and giving REAL reports as compared to the Fox "reporters" in their NYC studio....

IMHO he did good in NOLA.

5. Geraldo might have been a decent reporter...
if he could ever disengage himself from the story (it's always about him) and concentrate on being a journalist. His unceasing self-promotion gets in the way of his doing his job.

8. Hey, If I had ever been related to Kurt Vonnegut...
I'd be bragging to everybody I know (and many I don't).

4. Oh man, listen to this (Geraldo story from Iraq)...
One of my wife's high school friends is a Marine who was in Iraq last year. He told her that Geraldo was the biggest asshole he had ever met, and that is saying a lot because her friend doesn't like people in general from what she tells me.

Anyway, they were on a mission delivering water to a village that had been without a water supply for weeks, the people there were completely dehydrated and dying. So Geraldo decides to go along for the mission. They get there and start unloading bottles of water, at which time Geraldo starts complaining out loud something to the effect of "Holy shit it is hot out here!" He then starts popping open bottles of water, and right in from of the soldiers who are sweltering in their full gear and carrying a ton of equipment, right in front of villagers who are dying of thirst, starts pouring them over his head to cool off. He said the Marines just stood there stunned while he emptied several full bottles over his head.

Can you fucking believe that shit? The guy isn't worthy of the oxygen he breathes, so don't be surprised when you see him pulling stunts like this.

7. Geraldo pretends that he's the military.
He should have joined them (enlist) if he wants to be one of them.
