Marches in 140 U.S. cities against occupation of Iraq
<clips>

WASHINGTON (PL).— On October 25, tens of thousands of people are to take part in what is expected to be the largest anti-war demonstration in the United States since President George W. Bush declared the end of fighting in Iraq last May.

According to the United for Peace and Justice organizing committee, the demonstration will call for the withdrawal to U.S. territory of the Pentagon troops currently occupying the Arab country.

In a press conference, organizers from various groups including ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) affirmed that marches are planned in 140 different U.S. cities, with a particular focus on Washington and San Francisco.

According to analysts, a considerable number of U.S. citizens supported the war initially, but now many have realized that they were deceived; a fact that could be reflected in the number of people who take to the streets on October 25.

2. No connection with ANSWER, but we expect hundreds
to turn out for peace in a small town in SW NM. Religious leaders and parishoners, Patriot Act despisers, Quakers, Moms and Dads and Grandparents, Veterans for Peace, High School Students against war, Greens, Kucinich supporters, Democrats,,,we will all be there.

Taking pictures to send to our pug Congressman. A veiled threat to represent us instead of the wealthy??

4. It's important to spread the rallies outside the major cities
Recently in Providence, RI over 500 people gathered at the capitol to protest the involvement in Iraq. When news of these major gatherings is released - don't think it's only happening there - make it happen it here, no matter where you live, no matter who you think will hear. It makes a difference.

5. Protest is a civil responsibility

for citizens in a democratic society. We can talk the talk, but can we walk the walk?

It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it.

7. FeckaDeeGeeGollyWhiz - Doesn't the WH get it ? ? ?

. . GeeDubya can't go anywhere in the world without massive security

his "own" country (somehow that don't sound right)
is protesting everywhere he goes

. . the WH house now is cordoned off like a Gestapo HQ (maybe appropriate?)

He hasn't visited his closest neighbour and biggest trading parter (ya, dat be us Canuks)

His Ambassador takes pot-shots at us Canuks just for breaking wind -

and basically, MOST of the world takes exception to their military and financial aggressiveness -

SOoooo - the USA BETTER expect some retaliation from the radicals in a biological or other form, cuz the USA has made it quite apparent that Military Might won't impede the USA,

and sadly, apparently common sense, reason, and human dignity will not either -

So Junior has made it NECESSARY for others that feel strong enough to take the "terrarist" route of defending themselves -

GeeDubya has not REDUCED the threat of terrorism,

He has indeed INCREASED it,

if not participating in the same venue of "getting my way"

Just My Humble Canadian Opinion

(sigh)
