election 2006. Hopefully our dimwitted National Committee will figure out how to parlay this into some seats.

On the upside, * is approaching impeachment level. Will he go nuke?

35. That is a real concern - he's a lot crazier than Nixon.
He won't care how many he has to kill to hold on to power. The impeachment time will be very dangerous.

48. Dude, your signature is wrong...
I grow weary of the misinformed people who think Hitler won an election. He was appointed to the chancellorship after he lost an election against Hindenburg. I think people are confused because Hitler sought to seize power through legal means after his failed Munich putsch... which he did, but he did not win any election.

39. Sorry but no, he is not lower than Nixon.
Nixon wallowed in the 20s for months before packing it in.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Nixon#Watergate

I've heard this "lower than Nixon during Watergate," but that's a very misleading phrase since the Watergate scandal took so long to unfold.

Evil seeping out of his face for all to see; evil. All of the things we see going on now - acts of God. God is pissed. God is making * pay for his EVIL. We the People are the witnesses!

Evil, by the very nature of what it is eventually destroys itself.

23. Indeed: "That's what you get when you vote republi-CON...(sigh)"
YES. WHENEVER POSSIBLE, that connection should, and must be made. He's ALL THEIRS. They enabled him, made excuses for him, covered for him, and smeared for him. They've done his bidding all this time and damn-near worship the worthless fuckwad. So he's ALL THEIRS! And he needs to be hung around their necks all over the map next year. Starting like maybe um... YESTERDAY!!!

We need to make sure that as many republi-CONS as possible have hitched their wagon to an anvil, either deliberately or by default. NONE of them gets out of this free and clear. NONE.

33. Exactly, KR
otherwise, the Republicans will just come out with another Bushian clone who will continue to lead America in the wrong direction and possibly be able to convince enough Americans to vote for him so, in another squeaker election, we're stuck with more of the same.
It's not just Bush anymore who's responsible for America's downslide...it's the Republicans.
You are so right on this.
Bush is done. Put a fork in him.
Now, time to concentrate on the Republican Party.

12. Descent will slow after this.
Figure the Shrub lunatic fringe base as somewhere around 30%. As the approval rate approaches this number, substantive changes will become more difficult as the remaining approving approaches the increasingly ideological.

29. I don't think he'll lose his ideological base.
Those people think he was appointed President by God. They aren't going to be jumping ship for anything. The number is subject to debate, but it seems to be in the high 20's or maybe 30%. As the polls approach this value (whatever it is), I believe that the numbers will indeed approach the value asymptotically.

I don't think his approval rating could go below 25% at any rate no matter what happens. Remember, these people are ideologues who do not see things rationally, let alone sanely.

36. His base are sheep.
Their only real interest is being on the "winning side." Once it becomes obvious the rules have changed, many will flip. Once peer pressure goes overwhelmingly against them, the sheep will fold.

40. ARG has been ahead of the curve on Bush's numbers for a while now.
ARG seems to have their ear to the ground with regards to the American public's attitudes as they are consistently leading while the other pollsters seem to come along afterwards essentially confirming ARG's numbers...except for Gallup which is now the laughing stock of all polling organizations.
