FBI chief says Katrina has not made US more vulnerable to terror

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Hurricane Katrina stretched US law enforcement resources, but there is no reason to believe it has made the country more vulnerable to a terrorist attack, Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Robert Mueller said.

Mueller said he has warned the FBI's 56 field offices not to allow the massive storm and its disruptive aftermath to interfere with anti-terror duties.

"We have not seen any indication that terrorists see this as a unique opportunity or that this would in any way trigger an attack that was not (already) in the staging process," Mueller said.

He said the FBI office in New Orleans was damaged by the hurricane, but no current investigations have been compromised.

16. The FBI is correct. We are just as unprepared today as we were before
Katrina.

3. Talk about lame straw-man arguments.
We're saying FEMA and DHS have left us unprepared for terror. But I don't see him denying that.

12. Exactly. Katrina hasn't made us any more unprepared than we were,
it has just revealed how unprepared we really are.

5. Did the war on terror leave us unprepared for Katrina?
That's the real question.

6. Doesn't make sense
We lost the WTC, the Pentagon was sacked, four jets were lost, over 2,000 died, and that was WITHOUT the threat of a hurricane.

Throw in TWO Cat 4-5 hurricanes with the bulk of our NG deployed, and YES, the US is more vulnerable to terrorist attacks.

7. Well, if you discount showing the world how inept we are...
...at handling a MASSIVE EM crisis, like a flood, then of course, the US of Murka is NOT more vunerable to terra-ists!

After all, the FBI is still watching the Library lending records and now will be trying to stamp out Aunt Judy and Sexgrannies...

Mueller is a political Crony, just like the rest of them. If we get smacked by Al-Ka-Seltzah again, he'll look like a Keystone Kop just like Brownie and Saruman the Pale...

8. The FBI "leadership": thanks for 9.11 you assholes
Why should I believe anything these douche bags conclude. These are the same dummies who allowed Sept 11 to happen. Despite warnings from their own field offices.

10. What a stupid argument
We don't have enough protection AT HOME, where most of it should be. Just look at all our ports that remain unprotected. And nuclear and chemical plants are under private protection, which often isn't enough. Having so many in Iraq in the first place has made us less safe.

11. Part of the neocon infection, the FBI needs a thorough
cleansing, starting with Mueller, a Bushmob plant. Why isn't the FBI investigating the largest, most dangerous organized crime syndicate the world has ever seen? Because they're part of it.

15. Correct. Myself, I think the infection is too deep
and even IF they were allowed to sit on the Imperial Throne, the Democrats are unwilling to recognize what is happening.

Which is the first step towards actually fixing it.

But I don't believe another Democrat will EVER be permitted again to sit on the Imperial Throne of Amerika.

21. That's RIDICULOUS
Katrina showed this country is nothing but a 'paper tiger' that we're weak and vulnerable. We don't need terrorists to distroy us Mother Nature can easily do it.
