Marines Try To Recruit 79-Year-Old Woman
Adella Higenbotham Casler thinks a job application she filled out years ago may be the reason she got an invitation to join the Corps.

Greensboro, NC -- The Marine Corps is always looking for people to join the ranks of "the few, the proud." But one Greensboro woman found a recent recruiting effort a bit surprising.

"I was shocked. I said oh my goodness, isn't that wonderful that they could consider me at my age?"

8. Desperate enough to send stuff to my 7-yr-old son as well!
He recently got a fancy brochure from the Army recruitment office, promising a "free gift" if he sent back the "send me more info" postcard. Nice.

I thought it was bad enough that NCLB requires HIGH SCHOOLS to provide student info to military recruiters, but I didn't think I'd have to worry about my first grader being targeted!

6. Just 'cause she's old, that doesn't mean she can't be sarcastic.
;) I plan on being VERY sarcastic in my old age.

4. other lists...
I wonder if she's tried to fly recently? I wonder what other lists she might be on if the government knows she speaks Arabic.

7. Geez, maybe if they hadn't fired
many of their Arabic speakers/translators because they were gay, they wouldn't have to after old ladies.

9. I used to get calls from recruiters.
I told one of them I was gay, another that I was dying of a terrible disease, and another that I had to be home to look after my sister because my parents got hit by a bus.

They don't call me anymore.
