Syria Friday said it was massing thousands of forces on borders with Iraq and arresting many people trying to skean into Iraq, but those who "accuse Syria did not live up to their responsibility by placing active monitoring on the other side of the borders" with Iraq.
Ambassador Faisal Meqdad, Syria's UN man, told UN General Assembly his government has adopted many measures "that crippled our resources." He said Syria has massed thousands of forces on the borders with Iraq and arrested a large number of infiltrators.
Meqdad blamed those "who accuse Syria all the time," in a reference to the Iraqi and US governments "who did not live up to their responsibilities by placing active supervision on the other side of the borders.
