Edited on Thu Oct-23-03 10:44 AM by unfrigginreal
(Albany, NY-AP Oct. 23, 2003 10:30 AM) _ Joe Lieberman's lead in New York has slipped among Democratic voters in the state.

<snip>

The poll had Dean favored by 18 percent of New York Democrats in the race for the party's presidential nomination.

Lieberman, the party's vice presidential candidate in 2000, comes in at 16 percent.

They were followed by former General Wesley Clark at 14 percent and Congressman Richard Gephardt at ten percent.

2. poor Joe... didn't learn the lesson about arrogance
arrogance - criticizing the Gore campaign (gore in particular) and emphasis on populism.

but what has happened to your lead Joe? Something about ... strategy?

Irony lives.

3. Being a NYer originally, I wondered
when NYers would wise up and get on the Dean bandwagon. Lieberman's initial numbers, it is clear now, was mostly name recognition from election 2000.

4. "Lead slips"? looks more like "Lead Evaporated"
but I guess they had to spin it as nicely as they could for Joe.

7. I have always felt that Joe had the name rcognition thing going
Now that there has been a few debates etc, his lead has SLIPPED!! I also think that the Dean campaign has been very agressive about contacting people. Letting them know that there is a Dem candidate running for president besides Joe Liberman. Throw in there that he made the cover of "The New Republic", "TIME", Newsweek" and "U.S. News and World Report" all in the same week last summer. He has been on the "Tonight Show with Jay Lenno" and people realize there is somebody else. His most recent public exposure was last night on 6o min II. Right now for Liberman name recognition is a bitch, people recognize his name as Bush-lite.
