Pakistan Says Bin Laden Is Isolated
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050925/ap_on_re_as/pakistan_bin_laden;_ylt=AoqmeQuZrAYvI6Xa2c8x2rtvaA8F;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Osama bin Laden is hiding out with a small core of mainly Arab supporters, and the al-Qaida leader now only sends messages by courier because his communications network has been destroyed, senior Pakistani military and intelligence officials said Sunday.

There have been no fresh clues to bin Laden's whereabouts, but he generally is believed to be in the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

"In our opinion, the reports on the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden are more speculative stories rather than based on accurate intelligence," said Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan, chief spokesman for Pakistan's army.

Pakistan has deployed some 80,000 troops to its rugged border regions running along Afghanistan, fighting intense battles with al-Qaida-linked militants.

2. He's been sending messages by courier ever since he escaped.
And I think Osama would refer to his situation as "secluded," not "isolated."

Anyone else notice an increase in these Osama-bin-hiding articles that don't add up to anything except to remind America of September 11, 2001?

9. They forget that Americans have a short attention span.

Four years on and I'd bet that many would remember 9/11 only as a bad day, and couldn't say who or what.

Americans don't even remember fear that long ago.

If we can't actually find him, let's imply that he's neutralized.

7. This is getting ridiculous
If his whereabouts are known, go get him. Otherwise, quit crying wolf. Someone's lying and methinks the general public is catching on as to who it is. I guess it's like all the alleged terror alerts. They need sommething to keep people off balance, so every now and then, bring up BinLaden. As I said earlier, get him if his location is known, otherwise shut up!

8. Total tripe, indeed
If Pakistan knows so damn much about him, why don't they just go grab him...you would think they could get their eighty thousand guys to fend off his merry band.

Musharaf is playing both ends against the middle here--his population likes having someone they regard as Robin Hood in their midst, and he likes taking bribes from the US to go after said Hood.

Another example of Monkeyboy's support for democracy--shovelling cash to a military dictator!!!!

18. Sure, there's no percentage in 'catching' him...just as there's no
incentive to win the WOD or the WOT.
