4. I don't know about tet but
the number of dead grow everyday. I am so conflicted about this, I think that if the number of american dead grow so large that even john q. can't help but notice and demand a withdrawal. On the other hand I don't want to see another person die for the morons* folly.

8. I read somewhere...
that something like 2,000 shoulder-launched missile are missing and unaccounted for in Iraq. I shudder to think what could happen to a transport plane loaded with GI's -- my gut feeling is that there's a major disaster waiting to happen. As opposed to these one-at-a-time disasters that occur almost every day.

10. There are apparently about 20 attempts a month to bring down
a plane at Baghdad airport so it's obviously not that easy to succeed.

Haven't you heard? Dean's opposition to the war is inciting the Iraqi people to kill our G.I.s.

17. I heard it was the negative media reports
Edited on Thu Oct-23-03 06:31 PM by gratuitous
I read it in a letter to the editor in the Oregonian today, so you know it must be true!

ON EDIT: I notice that, in order to avoid unpleasant realities, YAHOO! lists only the number of dead since Lil George did his flight deck strut. I don't know why that has become the media convention; it's as if those who died in the initial fighting don't really count as casualties.

16. Bombs Kill GI, 4 Iraqis - CBS
As U.S. officials pled for financial help in rebuilding Iraq, deadly violence persisted there Thursday. Two bombs claimed the lives of four Iraqis and an American soldier. Two other explosives were detected before they could kill.

The U.S. solider was killed and two others wounded in a roadside bombing near Baqouba, 40 miles northeast of Baghdad. An American paratrooper was wounded in a fifth straight day of attacks in Fallujah, a Sunni Muslim city west of the capital.

Two Iraqi guards were killed in a bombing near an oil pipeline 150 miles north of the capital, U.S. officials said. Ten other members of the Iraqi Civil Defense Force were wounded by the blast.
