New Orleans to begin repopulating again

CAMERON, Louisiana (CNN) -- Search and rescue operations have been completed in the hard-hit southwestern part of Louisiana, said the top U.S. military commander for hurricane relief in the state.

Lt. Gen. Russel Honore said the next step in the disaster relief operation would be to set up a military-style tent city in Lake Charles, Louisiana, so the local government could reestablish its operations.

(Huh?? Done??--coffeen.)

Though less destructive than Hurricane Katrina, Rita caused extensive damage when it roared ashore Saturday morning near the Texas-Louisiana border with 120 mph winds.

2. Funny, a military helicopter just flew overhead

with a load of people they just evacuated from Bayou Jack in Iberia Parish. I guess Honore didn't get the word that Iberia and Vermilion Parishes STILL have people trapped in their houses. :mad:

Oh, and by the way General Honore, they just found out there is a hazardous chemical spill at the Port of Iberia that necessitates evacuating a ten mile radius around the Port!!!!

No problem here! Everything is just fine. Shit. :cry:

...glad you made it through okay....I sure hope we've seen the END of this hurricane season...what's happening down here is beyond fucked up and I truly wonder if it'll ever be the same again?! :cry: :hug:

4. They think it is some kind of epoxy sealant

or pipe coating. It's coming from a company that coats industrial pipe for drilling companies and the like. All they will say is that the leaking chemical is very flammable and they are worried about fire and explosion. At last count, there were 110
55-gallon drums of the stuff involved.

....they're already dealin' with...the pictures of Cameron and Lake Charles are incredible...hadn't heard a word about New Iberia or Lafayette in the news up here in Monroe....keep us posted about what you learn okay! :hug:
