6PM news tonight. They had a report about a Belleville IL woman who started as a clerk at Wal-Mart and now is a district manager responsible for 2500 people. She spoke and said that Wal-Mart isn't anti union but "pro associate" and spewed the management BS that they have an open door policy and believe that third party representation is unnecessary.
http://ksdk.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=85330...Wal-Mart officials were quick to respond. "I know of no other company that will make the personal investment in an individual that Wal-Mart will," said Wal-Mart regional manager Cindy Galati.
Galiti was hired by a Belleville Wal-Mart 24 years ago. She is now a district manager, supervising 25-hundred employees and $450 million in annual sales. She participated in what some might call a pre-emptive strike, flanked by suppliers including Anheuser Busch and Prairie Farms Dairy.
Galiti says, "At Wal-Mart we are not anti-union, we are pro-associate. We have an open door that we feel works at all levels. We do not feel that our associates need third party representation. And I feel very confident that our associates feel they don't need that."
Galati says Wal-Marts across Missouri pay an average of $9.68 an hour. In Illinois, ther wage is slightly higher. She adds that health coverage is available to all employees.
