DeLay Probe Winds Down; Charges May Loom

WASHINGTON - A Texas grand jury's recent interest in conspiracy charges could lead to last-minute criminal indictments — possibly against House Majority Leader Tom DeLay — as it wraps up its investigation Wednesday into DeLay's state political organization, according to lawyers with knowledge of the case.

Conspiracy counts against two DeLay associates this month raised concerns with DeLay's lawyers, who fear the chances are greater that the majority leader could be charged with being part of the conspiracy. Before these counts, the investigation was more narrowly focused on the state election code.

By expanding the charges to include conspiracy, prosecutors made it possible for the Travis County grand jury to bring charges against DeLay. Otherwise, the grand jury would have lacked jurisdiction under state laws.

The Associated Press spoke to several lawyers familiar with the case, all of whom requested anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly. DeLay, R-Texas, said Tuesday that prosecutors have interviewed him. He has insisted he committed no crimes and says Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle, a Democrat, is pursuing the case for political reasons.

Lynndie England was a Cat IV recruit (not the brightest bulb, to be charitable) who made a couple of hundred bucks a week, was screwing her superior, was easily led, was a lousy soldier, and likely not a compassionate person at her core.

DeLay is rich as Roosevelt, has had every advantage, wields a great deal of power, has the position and opportunity to do a great deal of good, yet he is an avaricious asshole without a soul.

Sure, neither one is a poster child for goodness and mercy, but one came from nothing, and will return to nothing, the other had it all--and is likely looking for ways to shield his riches as we post.

This event didn't get much notice in the press, but is a BIG deal! A number of things going on, but a number of big GOPers are getting sick of BushCo trying to drag down other Republicans they don't like.

In this situation the huge Republican 527 "Club for Growth" has been using serious money to try and drag down ranking Republican Senator Arlen Specter (R - PA). All the major Club for Growth donors are Papa Bush Family Mafia members that go back 25 years. The big donors are the same ones that funded the Swift Boat scam against Kerry, that was run out of Dallas and Houston and they pumped $5 million into the scam. Tom DeLay is also right in the middle of it and his PAC that just got indicted has been contributing to the Club for Growth.

The Republican Vice Chairman of the FEC, and other ranking Reps, finally said enough was enough of this crap and went after Club for Growth last week in a filed Federal lawsuit.

This is what we are hearing.

It's complicated legal bullshit as to why and includes the statutes of limitation is about out on this situation. Both DeLay and his daughter were subpoened last year in this Texas State Grand Jury investigation that resulted in indictments in that last several weeks.

DeLay's two buddies, that got nailed, each face 99 years in prison. The idea obviously, is to roll his two buddies to get at DeLay. Time will tell but again technically legally complicated. Ronnie Earle even said last week he doesn't have jurisdiction to nail DeLay at this juncture. Earle is a Travis County (Austin) District Attorney. He & the GJ has no jurisdiction over DeLay who lives in Harris (Houston) County.

Unfortunately, the Bush Family Texas Mafia is extremely powerful and dangerous. They control the Texas Governor and key State officials, and these are State, not Federal, indictments against DeLay's corruption buddies.

FYI, I'm with a large "money group" in Houston that has been trying to drag down Tom DeLay for 3 years now. I ran the group last year trying to help John Kerry/John Edwards, and supply intel on the Swift Boat operations, which we had insiders in the organization. Unfortunately, the Bush Family Texas Mafia is extremely powerful and dangerous. They shoved over $6 million into that Swift Boat fraud operation against Kerry.

I posted very heavily here at DU last year on DeLay and the Bush Family Texas Mafia. It was because of documents that nailed DeLay and some BushCo Mafia members that the Feds accidently uncovered at Enron. Many of these same members were involved in the Swift Boat fraud to nail John Kerry. To-date nothing has happened in regards to these uncovered documents. Again it's complicated, but overall the Feds are afraid disclosing these documents might hurt their cases against Ken Lay and other top brass.
