Bush Arrives In Hawaii

For Mr. Bush, it's a chance to live the same day over again. He already spent Thursday in Australia, speaking to Parliament and meeting with Prime Minister John Howard in Canberra.



(CBS/AP) President Bush arrived in Hawaii on Thursday, on his way back from a six-country trip to Asia and Australia.

Air Force One landed at Hickam Air Force Base amid tight security, and the president stepped off for a traditional greeting from Gov. Linda Lingle, who presented Mr. Bush with a lei.

The president and his wife, Laura, visited the USS Arizona Memorial where 1,177 crewmen were killed on Dec. 7, 1941, in the surprise attack on Peark Harbor by Japanese fighter planes. Mr. Bush and the first lady dropped flower petals in the water around the sunken battleship.

The president's 12-hour stay on Oahu also includes a visit to a local elementary school and a pair of GOP fund-raisers. (snip/...)

They are a way to wish somebody good luck and given to anybody
coming to the Islands.

I will note though, he is not drowning in them, like Kucinich was.

I wish I could Lei the President, with one made out of shells.

Traidtion holds that you are suposed to trow them in the surf (they are made of flowers they are bio degradable), and if the surf brings them back to shore you are suposed to come back.

Well the ones made out of shells usually sink to the bottom, and never
come back to the shore... and too stupid to the President would not understand the meaning either.

Mr. Bush was surprised to find out that the military personnel killed in action yesterday in Iraq are still dead. Aides explained to the befuddled Chimp Executive the difference between movies like "Superman" and real life. Sensing that Lil George was still a bit foozled by it all, Laura Bush then took charge and read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" to him, and sent him off to bed with his pilly and a warm bottle of Jim Beam.
