Reid urges president to pick mainstream candidate for court
Do you think Bush even knows what mainstream is anymore???

WASHINGTON -- Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., today urged President Bush to nominate for the Supreme Court a "mainstream candidate," not "an activist who would bring an ideological agenda to the court."

Bush has signaled that his nomination could be made soon, as the Senate prepares to vote Thursday on John Roberts to be the next Chief Justice.

"This is not an occasion for a radical shift in the ideological balance of the court," Reid wrote in a letter sent to Bush today by Reid and Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee.

1. Not a chance in hell................
the Cons know their agenda is going down the shitter, and quick. This may be their last chance to change the landscape of America for a very, VERY long time. They're going to go as extreme as they can, they have to. Now we'll see if the filibuster is REALLY in play or if the (certain) Democrats will just roll over and let the Cons walk all over them again.
They'll pick someone as extreme as they can, mark my words!

2. Lol!
Sorry, sorry. I should be more open minded about the President of these United States of America. I'm sure Mr. Bush will give every consideration to qualified, main stream...

phphptptptphhhaaaaaH! Hahahhahhahahhahahaha! Ooooooohahooowaaaaaahahaha!

Qualified? ROFL! Just like Brown! Heeeeeehehehehahahahhhoooohohohoh!

Oh.. hahah. ewwwwaaaa. Oh, that was a good one. Oh yah. Hee hee.

Yah. Hah hah. Finding main stream candidates is right up "Bush's" alley. I'm sure "mainstream" is right at the top of "his" list. He's been soooo effective at that so far.

:eyes:

1. This administration has a record of picking clueless, unqualified, narrow minded zealots more interested in toeing the administrations line than in well serving the US public.

2. Who says GWB has any say in the selection process AT ALL? I think he learns who is nominating while rehearsing a speach given to him by Cheney or Rove.

So yes, I am so sure "President Bush" will do all he can to nominate a qualiied, mainstream candidate for the court.

:eyes: :sarcasm:

3. Typical Dem behavior.
"Please Mr. President, play nice and send us a centrist who we can all agree will be a fine addition to the court.

Why are you laughing? Oh, you are going to find the most extreme wingnut and shove him down our throats.....Uh, that's really not playing fair and its kind of bullying, but I know some of my friends will go along to get along and in the end I probably won't put up much of a fight either.....but next time I won't let you get away with it!"

5. Ummm...in all fairness...
he is voting AGAINST Roberts.

Granted, this letter is meaningless because of course Bush won't appoint a moderate...Though if Dems had made some noise about Roberts, just maybe Bush would have reconsidered.
