DeLay must appear in Austin on charge (fingerprinted and mug shot)
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 07:37 PM by deminks
AUSTIN, Texas - The next step in the criminal proceedings against Republican leader Tom DeLay is a trip to Austin to be fingerprinted and photographed.

"What we're trying to avoid is Ronnie Earle having him taken down in handcuffs, and fingerprinted and photographed. That's uncalled for and I don't think that's going to happen," said Dick DeGuerin, DeLay's attorney.

DeLay could go to trial in 90 days, which the defense said it favored. "We want a trial right away," DeGuerin said. "We want a trial by the end of the year."

"I can understand why Tom DeLay wants a quick trial, because politically (the indictment) paralyzes him," Wood said.

(end snip)

I have have a hard time hiding my glee. :woohoo:

5. Let us hope this is the first of...
... many. There's still his dear friend and associate, Jack Abramoff, who figures prominently in many of DeLay's dealings.

I hope DeLay will soon be on a first-name basis with many US marshals. :)

14. Quick trial, my ass!
DeLay wants all of this to go away quick because of Abramoff. If Abramoff's case moves forward before Delay's is resolved, Abramoff will feel tremendous pressure to roll on DeLay to save his own sorry ass.

At least that is what would happen on "Law and Order."

15. Uncalled for?
When people are arraigned, they go in wearing handcuffs and leg shackles, whether they are dangerous or not. I can assure you that every one of them feels it is uncalled for. DeLay should have to hobble in wearing chains, just like everyone else.

63. Hell, I say it's time for "Extraordnary Rendition"
Ship him off to another country so he can be questioned with no access to lawyers so we can find out what this internal terrorist knows. He is at least as dangerous as some of the people that have been hidden at Gitmo or Abu Grahib.

That's what I'd like to do, but that would bring me down to their level... Sometimes it sucks playing by the rules of what is right.

Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 08:18 PM by Selteri
I don't envy him, though I suspect they will treat him with kit gloves in comparison to the harsh way I, a person who was arrested by the local PD when they decided to up their numbers by arresting a medical Marijuana person in Denver, was treated as though I was the lowest of criminals.

Personally, I hope they treat him the way I was treated, with the cops acting in a fashion designed to demean and humiliate, being accused of crimes that are lower than anything ever conceived of. Being associated not only with the crime he's done, but with both violent and dangerous crimes that have nothing to do with what he's done.

I know it won't happen, but it would be justice if they treat those who have done such high crimes as what he has done in the same way they treat a person who was physically ill and using marijuana to try to stay off the loss of 10-20 pounds of weight a month.

On edit: As a note though - We know he's been indited where with myself the charges were dropped by the DA.

67. Then DeLay better get his ass to Austin asap. His lawyer should just shut
up and start talking to Ronnie Earle about how to expedite the arraignment and he should tell DeLay to shut up asd stop trashing Ronnie Earle to the press. The Grand Jury indicted DeLay. Yes, Earle presented the case. But a Grand Jury can't indict without probable cause. And apparently there was probable cause. So DeLay should just shut up and concentrate on his defense. If he really thinks this is a political case he should have no problem convincing a judge of that and getting the indictment dismissed. Until he does that though he should just shut up.

Tom Craddick too. he is the speaker of the house from midland that personally delivered the checks to the republican canditates running for house seats(and when six of the seven were elected voted for craddick to be speaker). one of craddick's main goals is the destruction of the Texas public school system so he can get his voucher program in place.
