Bush's plunging popularity bodes ill for Santorum (PA poll)
Being aligned with president not a good thing, poll finds.

By Jeff Miller
Call Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON | President Bush's falling approval ratings are casting a shadow over Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum's bid for a third term, a new Morning Call/Muhlenberg College poll found.

Among the 54 percent of Pennsylvania voters dissatisfied with Bush's job performance, only 9 percent intend to support Santorum while 57 percent back his likely Democratic challenger, Bob Casey Jr.

Overall, Casey leads Santorum, 37 percent to 29 percent, with 31 percent undecided. <snip>

''It will be a significant challenge for Santorum to show a divide between him and the White House,'' said Christopher Borick, director of Muhlenberg's Institute of Public Opinion, which conducted the poll. <snip>

10. I'd guess inertia increasinly dominates his ratins. It caint be ..
John Q Public is switchin back and forth real quick: "I loves im. I loves im not. I loves im. I loves im not ..."

Nope. Attitudes is hardenin, and George II is accumulatin enemies bigtime.

Course, maybe all that means for us Dems, once again, is: We has got yet another opportunity to snatch defeat from the jaws of certain victory ...

12. You know,
there has to be a moment in which our hero stands up. Someone with the balls of a Peter Rodino, or a Sam Ervin, or a Howard Baker, or even a Sam Dash - someone who's unfraid of this bunch and who will put his faith in the law.

Of course, first, these thugs have to be caught.

18. The most recent information that I've seen is at the links below.
http://www.surveyusa.com/100USSenators0805SortedbyHighestApprovalRating.htm

http://www.surveyusa.com/100USSenators0805SortedbyNetApprovalScore.htm

The information's from August, but he's next to the last in reference to approval ratings and net approval ratings. I don't know if things have changed much since then, but he's said some more stupid things since August, and they have been covered in the local press at least where I live.

11. 31 Percent Undecided....
.... you have just GOT to be kidding.

A third of the population of a relatively sophisticated state like Pennsylvania has yet to realize what a bag of shit is Little Ricky and the GOP?

Considering the size of the GOP base in that state, one can only hope that this represents a severe disconnect by those loyal Republicans who have moved from the GOP side of the equation into the undecided side but have yet to make the leap into reality....

.... after so many of Little Ricky's fucked up remarks, strategies, and policies and the consummate failures of DimSon and the GOP in general, just what more is it going to take to move them to Casey is the real question.

13. Texas is worse
I still see a fair amount of Chimp stickers on SUVs and pickups...but fewer than there were a couple of years ago. Maybe there is a percnetage, say 25 or 30%, that will follow the Chimperor no matter what. Got to love cognative dissonance.

24. I can't believe that 31% either, but all these ribbons on cars and "W"
bumper stickers are still a concern to me. How could anyone be undecided with those two candidates? Crazy.

23. Brooks is a reliable source of current Repub soundbites, usually ..
.. slightly polished to make him sound thoughtful and independent.

Tonight, Brooks was citing Gallup. But Gallup started blaring "Bush is back up" about a week after Katrina struck, when most of the obviously lying Repub talking heads were hooting the same.
