Scope of Plots Bush Says Were Foiled Is Questioned
WASHINGTON — In the spring of 2003, Los Angeles police officials were summoned to a briefing with the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force and told that the 73-story Library Tower might have been the target of a terrorist plot similar to that of the Sept. 11 suicide hijackings.

When the plot was disclosed last year, authorities said publicly that they had viewed the claims by captured Al Qaeda chieftain Khalid Shaikh Mohammed with skepticism. They said that, at best, the alleged plot was something that had been discussed but never put into action.

By the time anybody knew about it, the threat — if there had been one — had passed, federal counter-terrorism officials said Friday.
.....
On Friday, the White House responded to questions seeking clarification on the potential attacks by referring inquiries to the FBI or other counter-terrorism agencies. The FBI referred the questions to the White House.

1. All the plots were very likely bogus
did Al Qaeda really think they could get away with hijacking airplanes again?

Do they think we are that stupid? (not Bush, I mean normal people on planes who now know to fight back)

12. You know if they weren't bogus they would have been on FOX "News"
24/7. They just look for chances to show what a "great job" this failed administration is doing.

but as far as questioning bush is concerned -- generally speaking -- a day late and a dollar short comes to mind.

7. I read somewhere that Padilla is included in these
yes THAT Padilla the one who had been in custody for several weeks before Ashcrodt thought it was important enough (it wasn't) to have a news conference concerning him. I believe W's numbers just also happened to drop that day.

9. oh, BIG surprise
and predicted by many it was. this EXACT outcome. and their usual game of making outlandish claims that are later proven to have been exaggerated, overblown, and generally heaping steaming piles of recyled bovine faeces is once again exposed. but the speech wasn't aimed at the general public anyways. if it had been, it would have been aired in prime time. this was meant for 'the kool aid drinkers', to pump 'em up during this time of crisis for his administration. they are screwed and know it.
stage two is around the corner. the MOMENT fitzgerald acts, their hired echo chamber will commence with a great weeping, wailing and the gnashing of teeth. their screams of manufactured outrage will fill the airwaves as we 'learn' that fitzgerald is a HILLARY SUPPORTING pinko commie, gay marriage advocating, baby killing, child abusing conspiracy theorist with an alcoholic lesbian wife, satan worshiping nazi children, who supports TERROR, takes DRUGS, kicks his dog, and who probably fathered at least a bakers dozen of out of wedlock BLACK babies. (did i miss anything?)
stage three will be the ACTUAL crisis. and the rumour mill seems to be settling on the BIG BAD FLU. perhaps they'll call it the 'TEHRAN FLU' for good measure ?

10. But, they missed the one
Edited on Sat Oct-08-05 01:29 PM by SoCalDem
where a kindergarten girl named Alice threatened to run with scissors while attenting to retrieve her copy of the Koran.. Rumor has it that the drawing she did bore an uncanny resemblance to the white house, and that she was planning an attack on it during her family vacation to DC in a couple of years.
