U.S. copter shot down near Tikrit
Link on MSNBC says Blackhawk down. Will * get the same
BHD treatment Clinton did???

At least five U.S. soldiers injured in apparent RPG attack

TIKRIT, Iraq, Oct. 25 — A U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter was shot down Saturday by ground fire near Tikrit, a center of Iraq’s anti-U.S. insurgency, U.S. officials said. The U.S. command in Baghdad said five soldiers were injured.

THE DOWNING, apparently by a rocket-propelled grenade, raised concerns that insurgents’ attacks on U.S. soldiers were getting more sophisticated even as they grow more frequent. The number of attacks on American troops in Iraq has been inching up to 26 a day recently.

1. Were they trying to get Wolfowitz or just scare him?
Another helicopter for US taxpayers to replace. Add that to the Humvees, tanks, etc. Death and destruction... thanks chimpy, good job.

2. An AP reporter saw it spin out of control and fall to the ground

and then burst into flames....and five escaped with injuries?

Conventional wisdom says they should all be dead.

On edit: I posted here a week ago that attacks on our military were averaging 15 a day. Now MSNBC says it's been "inching up" to 26 attacks a day. A near 100 percent increase from a week ago isn't "inching up."

3. They said "the helicopter crash-landed" in the first report I read
in DU this morning. Talk about misrepresentation of facts!

4. The AP article on Yahoo
TIKRIT, Iraq - Guerrillas fired small arms and rocket-propelled grenades at a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter after it came down Saturday in a field near Tikrit, wounding one soldier and causing the craft to explode in flames and spew a column of black smoke, the U.S. military said.
