* Governor, challenger to pull out the stops as Election Day nears

The two major gubernatorial candidates are bracing for an intense Election Day homestretch, with Haley Barbour bringing in a slew of political celebrities and Ronnie Musgrove traveling the state trying to convince swing voters he deserves another term.

He said Saturday that those results are no surprise to him.

"Any poll that has ever been taken in every election has always shown me to be the underdog," said Musgrove, a Democrat who served three terms in elective offices before becoming governor.

"I believe people want a governor who will fight for them and will put Mississippi first. That's what I have done."

Poll shows Barbour with lead

Republican gubernatorial challenger Haley Barbour is holding a slim lead over incumbent Democratic Gov. Ronnie Musgrove, and both campaigns face woes that won't be easy to overcome in the nine days remaining before the Nov. 4 election.

Ronnie can do this, but it'll be a barn burner. The more bad news for aWol, the better for this race. C'mon luck.

1. If Barbour wins this one
you will see the emergence of SOUTHERN PRIDE. The one that supports all the confederates symbols and everything.

2. A little disappointed
I'm a little disappointed about how so few care about this year's elections in Mississippi, Kentucky, and Louisiana. People would rather agrue about if Dennis Kun.... is electable.
