Lieberman struggles financially in Feb. 3 states

Associated Press
Oct. 26, 2003 12:00 AM

WASHINGTON - Sen. Joe Lieberman is pinning his presidential ambitions on Arizona and six other states with primaries on Feb. 3, but if fund-raising is any indication, he's fighting an uphill battle.

According to Federal Election Commission reports, Lieberman is being greatly outgunned by his Democratic competition in most of the Feb. 3 battlegrounds.

2. Joe's out..
It'll be interesting to see what his face-saving "I'm not quitting because I can't win, I'm quitting for personal reasons" exit strategy will be.

3. prediction: Joe will forgo New Hampshire just like he did Iowa
to save cash. He will make a last stand in Oklahoma and South Carolina. Polls in Arizona already see him going from the front runner a couple of months ago to being behind Dean and Clark.

4. It is a sign that people aren't interested
in supporting a democrat who supports the war! I think he screwed up royaly when he completely backed the pResident and now he continues to justify his decisions. He is part of the problem, not a solution. As the other candidates grow stronger, he will become weaker.

13. What's the point of supporting someone who
is completely behind Bush? Can't they just support Bush then? Holy Joe is the candidate for Republicans who think that Bush isn't Jewish enough. (Thanks to the Daily Show.)

Frankly, Joe would do better running directly against Bush as a Republican.

5. He won't get the nomination
Frankly Liberman should drop out. It's clear that his campaign is simply not catching on.

I don't hate him with the same level of dislike that other DUers have for the man. I've defended him here. But it's clear that this is not his year.

I'm not voting for him--I am voting for Dean right now. However, I don't share the same venom that other people have for him.

10. He might try raising money from Republicans.
They tend to have deeper pockets in political circles. And, personally, I think they'd like Lieberman to get the nomination.
