Political Threat To Bush Growing
http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/world/ny-wobush283513578oct28,0,5892600.story?coll=ny-worldnews-print

Washington - The latest rocket and bomb attacks in Baghdad are only the most recent in a series of setbacks for the Bush administration that threaten to turn Iraq into a political liability just as the 2004 election cycle is beginning.

Only last week, the administration suffered a defeat in Congress when the Senate voted to turn part of an $87- billion supplemental spending bill for Iraq into loans rather than outright grants over strong objections from President George W. Bush.

<snip>

But Bush also seemed to plead with Iraqis to support the U.S. effort in the face of the attacks. "The people have got to understand, the Iraqi people have got to understand that any time you've got a group of killers willing to kill innocent Iraqis, that their future must not be determined by these kind of killers," he said.

you would think that this thing could not look in the mirror with words like that

Tax Cuts for Terrorists!

It is Bush's version of the third way...

This will make them happy and peaceful!
And it will do to their economies what I have done to ours.

It is a bold plan, and we have nothing stupid enough to counter it.

2. Project the evil that is one's own
...onto others. This is a classic Jungian mass delusion. The type that leads to unjustifiable political horrors.

3. Ah, Grasshopper(s)
The most potent threat to bu$h is bu$h himself. It is wonderfully simple. He will fall from his own weight like an overripe plum.

4. I really haven't seen any good news for Bush since he stepped into office
Take a look at the list:

1) He has a confrontation with China over the plane which was forced down.

2) The September 11th attacks occur.

3) We invade Afghanistan.

4) Even though it's known that North Korea has more a nuclear program than Iraq, we invade Iraq. Germany, France and Russia don't like us.

5) We discover there are no Weapons of Mass Destruction. The Congress feels like they were fooled by Bush.

6) We discover that Bush forced the decision on Iraq and even outed a CIA spy in retaliation for bringing information that might interfere with his decision.

7) Cheney's corporate cronys get no-bid contracts to the tunes of billions of dollars.

8) The American military casualties continue to grow on a daily basis, and as he does for every piece of bad news, Bush tries to stifle the information by putting a curtain up to hide the coffins.

9) The only country that might mildly like the U.S. is India because it's getting all of our outsourced work.

24. I heard that story yesterday on local talk radio
email from the mother of a military person. Anyone able to confirm that they are using Fedex trucks at Dover to bring out the caskets?

21. That's right.
Did anybody ever determine if those Texans were Bush contributers?

BTW, another one is the space shuttle disaster. Considering how they have been cutting costs on safety, I'd say this is precisely the kind of cost-cutting tactics that the Republicans enforce because they figure nothing bad will happen on their watch. Think again.

5. "a group of killers willing to kill innocent Iraqis"
Edited on Tue Oct-28-03 08:09 AM by ixion
and of course, the US has killed more innocent Iraqis than anyone, so he must be talking bout the US. :grr:

Seriously, read this quote... who does it best describe?

"any time you've got a group of killers willing to kill innocent Iraqis, that their future must not be determined by these kind of killers,"

Hasn't the US killed THOUSANDS of innocent Iraqis? Should the Iraqi people be allowing the US to determine their future?

6. That is EXACTLY what I thought when I read that Bush quote
I think he pegged the "irony meter" with that quote.

So to recap: The rest of the world never believed Bush. The American public is starting to wake up to the lie that was the attack on Iraq. What happens next?

for a few years now. I can't believe he would say that. I think every day more and more Americans are waking up to what an idiot this man is. One can only hope.

16. Shhh!!! You are probably a terrorist yourself
When the United States kills people, it is OK because we're a good nation and we would never kill innocent people on purpose, just by accident even though we knew they would die it is not our fault so there.

from the worry about when and how they are to die. The Iraqis should be glad.

Iraqi guerrilla: Catching fish in morning, Americans at night

By Niko Price
ASSOCIATED PRESS
11:43 a.m. August 27, 2003

BAGHDAD, Iraq – The fisherman had just decided to take up arms, and he shook with fear as the American convoy approached his hiding place. As he later told it, he fired a rocket-propelled grenade into a Humvee and ran away as fast as he could.

Nobody gave chase, he said, and in the time that has passed since that April attack, his band of seven guerrillas has slipped into an easy rhythm of attacking American convoys every few days.

"I catch fish in the morning and Americans at night," he said. "Catching Americans is easier than catching fish."

He wouldn't give his real name, instead calling himself Salahuddin, the name of the 12th century Muslim liberator known to the West as Saladin. His account, which mixes verifiable facts with extravagant claims, gives a rare insight into the secret world of Iraq's anti-American resistance, which has killed more than 60 U.S. troops since May 1.

He insisted he wasn't motivated by any loyalty to Saddam Hussein or principled Islamic opposition to the U.S. presence. He said he was driven by what he sees as the Americans' heavy-handed treatment of ordinary Iraqis during anti-guerrilla operations.
