Turkey slams US "Ineptitude" in request for troops to Iraq

<snip>"The Americans do not know the region very well. They did not pay much attention to the advice given to them. If the officials who are currently administering Iraq had known the region better, things would be better today," Gul said.

The Turkish parliament authorized the government on October 7 to send soldiers to Iraq, but US officials have since failed to soften the Iraqi Governing Council's objections to the plan.

The US-appointed body says military involvement from neighboring countries may interfere with domestic politics and impede the already fragile reconstruction efforts in their war-ravaged country.

1. Will ABC/NBC/CBS note Turkey calling Bush and staff "inept"?
Or will this be buried?

2. I can see why the Iraquis don't want them in
Turkey is the remnant of the Ottoman Empire. That was an Empire of Imperialism alright.

5. If they weren't so inept
they wouldn't have listened to Chalabi and the other dissidents in exile about the situation in Iraq. They spoon fed the administration exactly what they wanted to hear with the hopes of being in charge after the invasion. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

8. Oh how correct you are! I found a speech online at INC web page
from a 2000 address to US congress by Chalabi, he was spewing about the imminent threat crap etc, pandering for 98 mil. I tried last night to pull up the speech and INC has taken down their web page. I'm going to try to find it in gov documents. Chalabi and thugs inc shouldn't get a free pass.

6. Oops, another one of Lil George's checks bounced
The Turks seem most obstinate in their opposition to commit men and materiel to the Iraqi Tar Baby. Lil George's coalition of the billing must be waiting for the checks to clear before doing anything foolish, but the checks keep coming back stamped "NSF."

<snip>Talks with the United States on the issue will continue, the minister said, adding: "We are not in a hurry."

...the war could be over before we see those troops!
