US outrage over Wolfowitz jibe (Wished Iraqis aim was better)
AN influential Lebanese politician and leader of its Druze community triggered US outrage today when he expressed regret US Deputy Defence Secretary Paul Wolfowitz was unhurt in a Baghdad rocket attack.

"We hope the firing will be more precise and efficient (next time), so we get rid of this microbe and people like him in Washington who are spreading disorder in Arab lands, Iraq and Palestine," Walid Jumblatt said in a statement.

Jumblatt, who is also the leader of the Progressive Socialist Party, called Wolfowitz a "friend of Ariel Sharon", the hardline Israeli prime minister, "and one of the main architects of ... the destruction of Iraq".

The US embassy reacted with fury to the "outrageous and completely unacceptable" comments.

2. What does the Bible say about this?
Something about those living by the sword shall die by the sword. :eyes:

But I wouldn't argue with fundie fascists about the book that they base their beliefs in.

5. Walid Jumblatt sounds like a familiar name
when was he in the news before this? Seems like it might have been about 20 years ago.

7. Jumblatt has led the Druze for decades.
He's been an influential figure in Lebanon for many years. His Druze faction is one of the many at play there.

You probably recall from the 1980's that the Shiite and Druze both had standing militias and zones of influence in Beirut. I believe a Christian sect did as well (Maronite?).

If memory serves, Jumblatt was escorting Terry Waite around Beirut and providing security when Waite was abducted by the Shiites. Memory's a little foggy on the details.

6. Anne Coulter: Tim McVey should have "hit the Times building in

New York." No outrage. Pat Robertson: "too bad terrorists don't plant a small nuclear bomb in the State department HQ's." No outrage.

Wishing Wolfowitz ill in a rocket attack--"Now THAT is beyond the pale!!!"

I think I remember something about dishing it out and not being able to take it . . . the saying is somewhat musty . . .

BTW, much as a warmonger like the Wolf-man might deserve it, I personally wish no man harm. Even Osama should be brought to justice, not peremeptorially killed.
