WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The special prosecutor in the CIA leak case is expected to seek an indictment Friday of Lewis Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, according to news reports. The prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald, isn't expected to seek an indictment of top White House aide Karl Rove, but he will remain under investigation, NBC News reported. Fitzgerald is expected to release paperwork related to the case at noon ET, followed by a news conference at 2 p.m. ET.

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - The White House braced for more political turmoil Friday amid news reports that Lewis Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, is expected to be indicted as part of special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's probe of a leak that revealed the identity of an undercover CIA agent.

Fitzgerald isn't expected to seek an indictment Friday of Karl Rove, the White House deputy chief of staff and a longtime adviser to President Bush, reports said, but is expected to remain under investigation.

The development comes just one day after the nomination of President Bush's Supreme Court pick Harriet Miers was withdrawn after facing a storm of political criticism from the president's own party and spells more trouble for the already battered White House.

The federal grand jury investigating the case is expected to meet with Fitzgerald this morning. Reuters said Libby is expected to be charged with making false statements to the grand jury.

<snip>

At the time, Bush said anyone involved in the leak would be fired. He has since amended the statement, saying he would fire anyone who was found to have committed a crime as some of the nation's most prominent journalists revealed off-the-record conversations Rove and Libby.

23. What are you talking about? Of course nobody's going to jail, YET
This is only a possible Grand Jury indictment, their still has to be a trial for any charges in the indictment.

24. Magic bullet? GJ to end? Libby charged with farting? Rove exonerated?
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 11:28 AM by The Judged
Last minute witness provided by Rove's lawyer, Luskin, convinced Fitzgerald that Rove commit no crimes?

Rove said to have unwittingly spread dirty rumors and outed CIA spy?

Rove said to have been forgetful, not intent on lying by omission to GJ?

Rove's aides said to be disorganized in failing to turn over critical and telling e-mails, but not part of any cover-up effort to mislead GJ?

no links: just google Rove, Luskin, Fitzgerald, and "person," who knows more about this secret GJ than even Fitzgerald.
