Wolfowitz says Baghdad hotel attack a stomach-churning experience
Wolfowitz says Baghdad hotel attack a stomach-churning experience
By Associated Press, 10/28/2003 21:39

WASHINGTON (AP) When rockets hit the Baghdad hotel he was staying in, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz ran to the window to see what was going on. A security guard hastily pulled him back and told him what to do.

''I was not exactly focusing on whether the building was shaking,'' he said Tuesday, recounting the deadly attack. ''I was focusing on following instructions, getting across the hall.''

Wolfowitz, interviewed on the Fox News cable network, confessed only to ''a pit in your stomach'' during the assault on the Al Rasheed Hotel that killed a U.S. lieutenant colonel and wounded 18 other people. Several rockets struck the hotel that is home to many U.S. military and civilian employees.

He said he didn't have time to be scared. But when he appeared at a news conference later, he was shaken up. (snip/...)

10. the 'shock and awe' dropped hundreds of missiles on a city of
six million people...and the responsible party, wolfowitz, is surprised that it feels so bad...

and once again, wolfo uses the same mememememe bush* is using:

''They're trying to scare us out of Iraq,'' he said. ''The reason Iraq is a dangerous place today is because there are people who can't stand the thought of a free and peaceful Iraq.''

(although, I have noticed the subtle change to the "free and peaceful Iraq" from the previous "democratic' Iraq..., sort of like the shift from WMD to WMD Programs)

But probably not.

16. Our problem is that Satan doesn't want competition in hell
And he only accepts these guys who are far more evil than him in Hell
after they become senile. Then they pose no threat to his status.

18. Insane
A badly wounded American colonel, who had grown up in Beirut but lives in Arlington, Va., gave Wolfowitz the thumbs-up when he was asked: ''How do you feel about building a new Middle East?''

''It's just an amazing spirit,'' Wolfowitz recalled.
====================================================

The soldier was telling Wolfie to stick it where the sun don't shine.

22. Here's the last known pic of the Wolfman
Leaving Baghdad shortly after the attack on the hotel. Seems he's had a change of style since the AM. I wonder if flak jackets will become part of his regular wardrobe or if he was just showing off his halloween costume? He really looks like one of the ninja turtles in that thing.

35. At least they are telling us good news now
Wolfowitz gets shit scared out of him by loud noise. He was quite a ways away from the actual blast so saw no shrapnel or felt any concussion but was terrified. Good News IMHO

34. A "Stomach-Churning Experience", Eh Wolfie?
Kind of like the feeling when your Bradley runs over a mine and you watch a fellow soldier's skull telescoped into the hull?

Kind of like watching a sniper's bullet blow a couple of your buddy's fingers off?

Kind of like having your 11-year-old son's arms torn off by a "collateral-damage"-inducing "near-miss" that (gosh, we're REALLY sorry, let's get you set up with some artificial limbs) landed on your house by mistake?

Kind of like seeing a lance corporal running from an RPG attack on a truck convoy with his clothing in flames?

Getting the picture yet, Wolfie?

Nah, I didn't think so either.

39. The ancient Mayanshad more integrity
For all the hearts being ripped out of sacrificial victims, and all the skull racks, torture and blood..TheMayan culture had one thing right...

Mayan kings themselves led the soldiers in the charge into battles they fought. Mayan kings didn't allow themselves the luxury of hiding from the ugliness of war like our modern"civilized" leaders do.They were not as hypocritical as Rumsfeld is allowed to be.Mayan kings knew they faced death if they went to war, just like every other soldier knew and they fought as equals when it comes to risk to life and limb.

It's only us "civilized" people who seem to not have the capacity to demand our leaders fight for US with US.Technology doesen't let a foot soldier off the hook,so why should it be an excuse to shelter a "leader"? When leaders can hide from the consequences of thier decisions.bad policies or warmongering and use the army of a nation like thier hired guns, thier own human shields, and when nations of people become a game of chess to these pompous people ,it's time for these"leaders" to be forced to fight, and RISK thier lives if they believe what they send us to war for is so rightious.

War is not just a leader's selfish decision,it requires consent of those fighting it too.The chain of command begins and ends with YOU.A war can't be fought if soldiers refuse to fight or follow orders.

I read about Egyptian Pharohs ,Roman Ceasars, and other "leaders" of long ago,and it seems they had a bit of guts, they fought alongside thier troops in wars. I know some of these kings might have been insulated, protected or were positioned out of the melee at a vantage point ,but there WERE on the battlefield they saw the suffering felt the threat, and sometimes got hurt or killed. So for these ancient kings diplomacy was important. If they blew off diplomacy like Bush co.does they would be risking thier own cushy, self-important little lives .
I bet diplomacy would become all important if rummy had to face getting shot at everytime he wanted to"nation build" I bet if bush had to dodge bullets,he might not be so inclined to shoot off his mouth like a jackass to other nations.
Rumsfeld is a puffed up coward,Bush is a stupid boy coward,Most of our so called leaders we have pretty much are rich boy, pretender control freak cowards. Rich little boys that never grew up,playing with billion dollar toys, playing idiot war games with other peoples lives and money. And WE the People LET them do this everytime we fight THIER wars and do not demand the rich kids and senator's sons die too..

The Ancient Maya,The Ancient Egyptians and the Romans would be laughing at our coward leaders hiding away like scared little boys from the wrath of the enemies they incite with a bunch of swaggering posturing, exploitative ,just wrong bullshit..
