Congressman's Wife Speaks Out on Divorce
WASHINGTON — Ohio Rep. Steve LaTourette's wife said Tuesday she shouldn't have told a newspaper her husband was divorcing her and having an affair.

Susan LaTourette had called an insider Capitol Hill newspaper, The Hill, and said her husband was involved with a Washington lobbyist and had changed since being elected to Congress in 1994.

"Washington corrupts people," she was quoted by The Hill on Monday. "He was a wonderful husband and father, the best I ever saw, until he went there. I told him I was trying to get him out of the dark side, all that power and greed and people kissing up to them all the time. Now he's one of them. All they care about is getting re-elected. I hate all of them."

1. WELL NOW!
Say what you may, nothingshocksmeanymore, but I'll bet this Republican Congressman certainly hasn't had any sexual contact with his Republican girl friend! They ARE, after all, members of the Republican Moral Party!

I found the Hill article:

Rep. LaTourette’s wife says he wants a divorce after admitting to D.C. affair
‘I think Washington corrupts people’
By Albert Eisele

The wife of Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-Ohio) said Monday that her husband of 21 years has asked her for a divorce after admitting he is involved with another woman, a Washington lobbyist.

“He called me on Friday and said he wants a divorce,” Susan LaTourette said in a telephone call from her workplace near the Cleveland suburb of Madison Village, where she, her husband and their four children live.

Susan LaTourette, who said she doesn’t know where her husband lives when Congress is in session, blamed the Washington culture for the breakup.

(snip)Susan LaTourette, 49, said the congressman “called a few weeks ago to tell he had a girlfriend and wanted a divorce.” She named the woman, whom she said was a lobbyist.

She said she urged her husband to seek marriage counseling and he indicated he would consider it. But on Friday, “he called me again and said, ‘I want a divorce. It’s over. Goodbye.’”

Asked why she was going public with her marital problems, she replied: “Because I want to get him back. It’s very painful but I just wanted people to be aware of this. Most women who get treated like this can’t do anything about it, but I can.” (snip/)

8. What woman could resist his contrasting color choices?
And the clever way he conceals his chipmunk cheeks with that beard? Seriously he got elected on a four term, term-limit pledge; (and his background as a fighting-evil-prosecuting attorney), then told GOP leadership he'd stop at ten years, but now has announced he's running for his sixth term.

16. That's not the question.
The question is who is the lobbyist, and who does she shill for.

Remember Bill Thomas, the California Republican currently chairing the House Ways and Means Committee? He's far and away the most important member of Congress on legislation related to health care, Medicare, and prescription drugs. Eli Lily funneled $13,000 to his campaign war chest, making it the number-one contributor among Thomas's long list of corporate backers. Besides contributing money to the Congressman, the company also hired Deborah Steelman, the capital's best-connected health care lobbyist, to oversee its government relations work as vice president for corporate affairs.

Well, guess who's having an affair?

“The Bakersfield Californian” reported that although both married to others, Thomas and Steelman were entangled in an intimate, "intensely personal" relationship with illicit romantic overtones. Neither denied their liaison! "

So what company is footing this bill for schtupping the congressman? Who's paying the bill for violating our nation's "Family Values"?

Another one for my file (31 pages so far)!

5. Par for the course for Repugs
Classic Repuglican "Do as as we say not as we do" behavior. Just like that two-timing hypocrite Newt Gingrich who divorced his first wife while she was being for cancer for a younger woman. Married the younger woman then cheated on and divorced the second wife to marry his 3rd illicit lover who he had been having an affair with for 7-years.

This was the Republican's moral compass during the 90's. Lets not forget about the St. Henry Hyde and St. Bob Barr.

12. Oh, God, Steve! You're a caution!
Words from Steve concerning Bill Clinton during the impeachment crapfest:

And Rep. Steve LaTourette, R-Ohio, said he'd like to wait for the facts to come out but added: "Having been around this president for three years, however, I would observe that he's gotten out of more jams than the folks at Smucker's."

14. Gee, Mr. LaTourette voted "yes" on three of the articles of impeachment
I wonder if he considers his own behavior makes him unfit for office? Or is there yet another standard in play? Another measure on the compass of moral relativity?

17. All the repukes have LaTourette's Syndrome
The foul mouth bastards are able to harp on against any Dem, regardless of, well, anything, but they are doing worse things all along.

Clinton had a consenual affair, FORNICATOR, PERVERT, WHOOOP!, and the fact that my wife has no idea where I live while in DC means nothing. My girlfriend, what? I am a republican. I would however like to talk about JFK, ADULTERER, and Mariliyn Monroe, WHORE, WHOOOP!, and contrast that with ronnie raygun. The first divorced president you say? Well I don't know what that has to do with anything, you do know he was a republican, right?

-S. LaTourette*

(*dramatization any similarity to sancitmonious bastards alive or dead is merely coincidental)

My apologies to all those with Tourette's Syndrome for real.
