WASHINGTON -- The biggest union in the AFL-CIO is ready to endorse Howard Dean -- if it endorses anyone at all.

A spokeswoman for the Service Employees International Union said that Dean would get the group's support, if it decides next week to make an endorsement.

"It's Dean or no one," Spokeswoman Sara Howard said.

The union's executive council will meet next week to consider whether to back Dean.

4. Dean is starting to get Union support
Gep may have it currently...but I don't see anything new and exciting coming from the Gep camp. And before you dismiss me as a Deanie, I see the possiblities for growth for just about every candidate...except Gep. He got the Unions as IT. That's his IT. If he starts bleeding on that front, well, he's dead in the water. The Unions that supported Gep will start supporting Dean.

I hate to say this, but I knew this would happen.

5. Dean is kicking ass. He took my advice thankfully.
He's now appealling to the base of the party. I wrote an email to him about this in early September.

Labor and Blacks. And kicking ass on both fronts.

He's doing well. If he continues like this, I just don't see how any other Democrat can beat him.

P.S. Dean will probably have as much cash on hand on December 31 as Bush did in 1999. My advice is that he should forego matching funds. This way he can raise more money if needed in the spring after he wins the nomination and he won't be limited by how much he can spend.

If he is limited, he will have to spend the $40 million fighting Democrats and when he runs out of money, Bush will unleash his negative attacks and Dean will have no way to counter them.

It only makes sense.
