Iraq complains not invited to border security meet

BAGHDAD, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Iraq said on Friday it had not been invited to weekend talks among its neighbours on border security and would not accept any decisions they might take.

A Foreign Ministry spokesman said Iraq regretted the failure to ask it to attend the meeting of foreign ministers from six neighbouring countries due to start in Damascus on Saturday.

"It would have been wiser and better to invite Iraq, especially since the subject is the political and security situation in Iraq and its repercussions on the region," he said. snip

Syria's foreign ministry has said it will host the foreign ministers of Turkey, Iran, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Egypt for two days of talks on Iraq.
