Cases of Aids worldwide have reached record levels, with the number of people living with the disease put at more than 40 million, a report showed yesterday.
The Aids Epidemic Update 2005 said that there were now 40.3 million cases compared with 37.5 million in 2003.
This year at least three million people died from the related diseases, including an estimated 500,000 children.
