At Least 4 Dead in U.S. Helicopter Crash in Iraq (+ another troop killed)

BAGHDAD, Nov. 7 — At least four people were killed and two wounded when a U.S. Black Hawk helicopter crashed on Friday near the Iraqi town of Tikrit, the U.S. Army said. "Preliminary reports indicate four deaths and two injuries," said a spokeswoman, adding the cause of the crash was not yet known.
"At approximately 9 a.m. (0600 GMT) this morning a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter went down," Major Josslyn Aberle of the 4th Infantry Division told reporters in the northern town of Tikrit.

"At this stage we don't know if it was due to mechanical failure or another reason."

Meanwhile, guerrillas armed with assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenades killed a U.S. soldier in northern Iraq, the U.S. Army said.
