Move to oust Iraq PM al-Jaafari
Leaders of Sunni, Kurdish and a secular political party decided today to ask the Shiite alliance to withdraw its nomination of Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari for another term, political officials said.

The move is expected to draw sharp opposition from radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, whose support enabled al-Jaafari to win the nomination by a single vote in a February 12 caucus of Shiites who won election to the new parliament.

A political battle over al-Jaafari could further complicate efforts to form a national unity government – a key step in the US plan to begin withdrawing its troops this year. Those efforts have already been strained b last week’s wave of sectarian violence triggered by the February 22 bombing of a Shiite shrine in Samarra.

According to several senior politicians, leaders of the three parties agreed to inform Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim, leader of the Shiite alliance, that they lack confidence in al-Jaafari and want the Shiites to put forth another candidate.

2. al-Jafaari: TERRORIST
He is a member of the al-Daawa terrorist group that bombed the USA embassy in Kuwait in 1983 which killed several Americans. He should be indicted for murder. Naturally, treasonous Bush considers the cut throat a valued ally.

3. Well sort of.

"Al-Daawa's military wing took the name Shahid al-Sadr (The Martyr al-Sadr), and with military and financial support from Iran intensified its campaign of sabotage throughout the 1980s. In addition to Iraqi targets they would also go after governments that gave support to Iraq including the 1983 bombings of the US and French embassies in Kuwait. Increasingly effective repression by the Iraqi government eventually caused Al-Daawa armed campaign to die down by the late 1980s though it could still occasionally strike, it almost succeed in killing Saddam's son Uday in 1996."

You see they were fighting against the brutal dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, and that including attacking the foreign supporters of that brutal dictatorship, such as Kuwait, the United States of America, and France. I guess it is ok when we attack brutal dictatorships, killing and destroying as we see fit, but it is bad if anyone else does it.

Nothing in the middle east is simple, and pretty much nothing is as it seems.

5. No statute of limitations on murder ...
... therefore, there is ample time and evidence to warrant an indictment of al-Jafaari.

Iraq government talks in disarray

Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari has cancelled a meeting with senior political leaders,
apparently to protest against a campaign to oust him.

Kurdish and Sunni leaders are unhappy with Mr Jaafari and have said they will not join a national
unity government with him at its head.

This is the latest crisis to hit attempts to form a new government.
