Chevron bets big on Canadian oil sands

Chevron Corp. said Thursday it had bought five heavy oil leases in the Athabasca region of Canada's northern Alberta province.

The leased land covers more than 180,000 acres and contains an estimated 7.5 billion barrels of oil in place.

1. And how much Natural Gas will they have to use to extract it again?
I wonder if the choice soon will be whether you want you house warmed in winter, or the ability to drive to work, it seems like that choice will be made for us.

for dubious liquid coal fuel that always loses money and is over-compensated by government subsidies. The sheer level of robber-baron corruption is so high, that they can get away with it purely because no one would believe it.

These things also require enormous settling ponds full of highly polluted water.
