KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (Reuters) - Five foreign troops were wounded, at least one seriously, in an attack on an armored vehicle in southern Afghanistan on Friday, the U.S.-led military force in the country said.
A U.S. military spokesman declined to give nationalities, but an Afghan army officer said a suicide bomber had attacked a Canadian armored vehicle outside Kandahar city, where Taliban guerillas have killed foreign troops and civilians in the past.
"A car full of explosives blew up near a Canadian armored vehicle. The bomber was killed," General Rahmatullah Raufi, commander of the Afghan army's southern region, told Reuters.
The blast occurred in Daman district, about 15 km (10 miles) south of Kandahar and about 10 km (six miles) from the airport, where Canadian troops are based.
