Two More Officials Quit Kerry Campaign
Fork, meet Done.

<snip>

WASHINGTON (AP) Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry's press secretary and deputy finance director quit Tuesday, adding to the bitter turmoil on Kerry's team after the dismissal of his campaign manager.

Robert Gibbs, chief spokesman for the Massachusetts lawmaker, and deputy finance director Carl Chidlow quit in reaction to the firing of Jim Jordan, abruptly let go by Kerry Sunday night. Both expressed dissatisfaction with the campaign, according to officials.

Gibbs will be replaced by Stephanie Cutter, a former spokeswoman for Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., and currently the spokeswoman for the Democratic National Convention, the officials said.

Jordan was replaced Monday by Mary Beth Cahill, who was Kennedy's chief of staff. The switch, less than three months before voters in Iowa participate in the first-in-the-nation caucuses, was designed to jump-start Kerry's campaign by signaling to fund-raisers and activists that he was addressing problems that have caused his campaign to slump.

1. Man..................
I'm not a fervent Karry supporter, but this isn't good. The people replacing those that resigned are seasoned veterans so I doubt that there will be much turmoil in transition, but it has to be somewhat disrupting. This does not bode well for the Kerry campaign, morale wise this could be devastating.

8. Actually they have greater mo'. I'm pleased it happened.
Cahill is a powerhouse. And other candidates don't poll as well with women as Kerry. Women are a major voting bloc that some have forgotten. This can be turned around by the end of the year.

2. This is bad coming so close to the primary
How can anyone manage a country, when they can't even manage their campaign?

3. What is this mans trouble?
I do not like he voted the power he had away but on the whole he is a smart man. Do you think it is the Vietnam thing coming back to get him?

4. Kerry is a great man. There is no doubt about that...
That IWR vote cost him dearly. I know that a lot of us DUers emailed and called his offices prior to that vote. If only he had listened. What a shame. He would be a kickass president.

6. Just maybe
Just maybe they are afraid.
There may be pictures of them burning an American flag
somewhere and they are afraid that he would punch them in the mouth.

9. As my mother pointed out
One of Kerry's strengths is looking dignified and presidential. She thought it was a mistake to go on Leno on a motorcycle with a leather jacket. I personally thought it sucked to see him sucking up to Leno, a blowhard repug. Kerry is a good man but he needs to focus his campaign.
