Bill, Hil no shipmates
He advises Dubai as she fights deal

WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Clinton didn't know her husband was giving Dubai advice on the port deal she's fighting, and Bill Clinton says he didn't even get paid for it.
"These guys called him, and he took a phone call from them, and he told them he did not know the details of this specific proposal," said Bill Clinton's spokesman, Jay Carson.

The former President was traveling in Pakistan when he got the call two weeks ago, sources said, and Hillary didn't talk to him about it.

New York's junior senator was floating legislation at the time to stop Dubai Ports World from taking control of six major ports in the U.S. - including Manhattan's cruise ship terminal and Newark's container port - and demanding that the company undergo a tougher security probe.

Carson said the former President was not paid for consulting with Dubai. "He does not have clients, nor is he an adviser for Dubai Ports World," he said.

1. I knew it
Somehow, someway, the corporate media would find a way to drag the Clintons into this, not to make it their fault but to muddy the waters: "Oh, well I don't like the ports deal and what Bush is doing but, you know, Clinton helped the UAE and Hillary says she didn't know...blah, blah, blah..."

If you can just blame the Clintons then you reduce the blame effect on Bush.

Karl Rove must have been made a few phone calls.

I hope this artical is true.

3. The way I read the whole issue is that Hillary is......
.....fighting against this of course. Then, during the same period, or possibly just prior to this, UAE officials ask an ex-President what he thinks would help get the issue through Congress. In response he says something to the afect of submit of a complete investigation that assures the American people you're all on the up and up. Pres. Clinton then adds that he thinks it's a bad idea all the way around.

So what is wrong with all of that?

5. Nothing is wrong with it
It's just like the misleading headline posted in LBN the other day. It wasn't like the advise he gave meant support for the whole thing. This is a tempest in a teapot.

7. OOPS - I didn't mean that question to........
....you personally. I meant the question more toward the media and others trying to make a huge issue out of it.:puffpiece:

6. Watch the RWers try to claim that there was no way that Hillary couldn't
know what Bill was doing . . . and yet they spent $70 million investigating something that Hillary (200+ million others in this country) had no idea was going on . . .

9. Senator Clinton and former President Clinton need to shut-up
now and let others come forward on this issue. If they continue in the forefront, we are going to lose support on this issue and it will all look like politics as usual.

11. Unfortunately, Hillary is one of the few dems who will take a stand
You might not agree with her all the time, but which other dems, other than she and Schumer, are really standing up on this issue.
